Sikandar Alam Is Dead (RIP) - The Great Oriya Singer is No More

Sikandar Alam, the great Oriya singer who is famous for his mellifuous voice and Bhajans - is dead. Mr. Alam died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 71. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Sikandar Alam's repertoire included a great many devotional songs and Jagannath songs. Some of his famous movies for which he was a playback singer include Amada Bata, Adina Megha, Punarmilana, Kula Chandrama, Puja, Mamata.

Some of his famous songs in a career spanning 50 years and at least 50 Oriya movie are

Brundabane Banshi Ke Bajaila Eka Radha

Aa Re Mita Aa Sangata Bela Galani  from Mamata 

Sapanara Pathe Pathe  from film Dharitri


Emitibi Nadi Achi Jie Kebe Sagarare    from Pooja

Andha Kari Mote Karilu Re Dhanya  from Bilwa Mangal




and many more.


Sikandar Alam was born in Cuttack. He was the President of Orissa Sangeet Natak Academy.

I Ramesh Nayak from Berhampur on tour to US/Canada to meet my all 4 children here since retd from Govt service as Engineer.During 1988 Sikandar Alam, while A A Sahid was DIG Berhampur and Amin was AEE in PHD were all my friends met and visited Gopalpur had lot of funs.His song of 1966 Akebuja Bujidio which i played on my honey moon night on remark he felt happy and joy.I have respectto him as a artist a devote to Lord Jaganath after Bhakta Salbeg.Ramesh

I was shocked and my wife and all family were moved on the sudden death of our known and favourate oriya singer. I like and desire to listen his 1966 song Akhebuja Bujideo Nerabray Kathakuha Kuha mate Bhalapaoboli. I shell be emencely happy if i can here his old song and my favourate. May his sole rest in peace.Pray Jaganath to give bold and coreage to his 2 doughters. Sine personly i know him feel much.Ramesh
